Hwy. 77 extends from the Minnesota border east through Danbury, Minong, and Hayward to Hwy. 13 north of Glidden.

Largest city: Spooner, population 2,633 (1998 estimate). Spooner is the third-largest community between Eau Claire and Superior on the four-lane U.S. Hwy. 53.

County Seat: Shell Lake.
