OUTDOOR GROUPS
Several organizations in the area are dedicated to the traditions of hunting and shooting.
Ducks Unlimited
Ducks Unlimited establishes, promotes, assists, and contributes to conservation, restoration, and management of
waterfowl habitat.
Three Ducks Unlimited chapters are in place locally: Yellow River Chapter in Spooner, Joe Gronski, 635-3003; the
Northern Lakes Chapter in the town of Scott, Burnett County, Paul Avery, 635-3036; and the Northern Teals Chapter, a
chapter for women, Karen Slaminski, 635-6392.
Indianhead Rifle & Pistol Club
Indianhead Rifle & Pistol Club (IRPC) promotes the shooting sports and introduces youth to the sports while teaching
them gun and hunting safety. IRPC has a shooting range just north of
Spooner. The group also strongly supports conservation of habitat for wildlife.

Whitetails Unlimited
Whitetails Unlimited (WTU) includes the Northwest Wiscon-sin Chapter based in Spooner. The organization's purpose is to
raise money to promote understanding of conservation measures, to purchase and manage wildlife habitat, and to preserve
the hunting tradition for future generations. The group also hosts a handicap deer hunt. Gary Magnus, 635-2369.
Northwest Wisconsin Gun Dog Club
The Northwest Wisconsin Gun Dog Club in Spooner promotes the hunting dog sports and helps inform people with dogs about
proper training techniques. The club also encourages children and young hunters to be involved, teaching them the
responsibility that goes along with owning a dog and carrying on the hunting dog tradition. Brian Swanson, 468-4074.
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
Washburn County is included in the Chequamegon Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, an international, nonprofit
wildlife organization dedicated to the conservation of elk and other wildlife habitat in North America.
Wisconsin has established one of the strongest traditions of supporting elk and elk habitat. Elk were introduced into

Safari Club International
Headquartered in Minong, the Safari Club International Chapter was formed in 1998 for those interested in hunting,
fishing, and the outdoors. The club's mission, locally and nationally,
is the preservation of hunting rights and the conservation and preservation of wildlife resources. Jay Link, 466-2234.
